more furniture....

Ahhh....the season is upon us and the mad dash to the finish line has begun! I've got so much going on, I'm not really sure where to begin!

We had our open house at River Edge Antiques this weekend and the place was crazy! I sold my Scarborough Fair table...and a bunch more! So I whipped out this chest to bring to the shop to fill some empty space.

I know the angle of the photo makes it look a little funny....but the top is where the artwork's at man!

For my Gifty Jenn sent me a very creative card with a Starbuck's Gift certificate. YUM-Yum...who doesn't like Starbucks?? Check out the card she made me at her site...it's way cool! Thanks Jenn!

Well I hope all of you have a great Turkey Day...and I will be sure to give Thanks to my many new friends! Be sure to over eat, laugh and be merry!

hugs

Crazy Snowmen

Even though I've never been the best at sewing, I sometimes get a craving to do a project other then painting. Being in the antique business I tend to hoard funny little things. Most of you probably know by now that I love old paper. I also love vintage fabrics & buttons. I sell vintage linens, but keep any that have stains or holes in them for crafting.

I know they're crazy!

They are made from an old tablecloth, vintage buttons, buckles, old papers, leftover yarn and Christmas cards from the 30's and 40's. I got a little more creative with the next batch and hung old photos, etc. along side the Christmas cards.....so they seem to be holding more. (sorry, didn't get pics. before I ran them over to the shop).

Have you all been checking out the amazing gifts from the Gifty? Way too much fun....and I can't believe all of the talented wrappers out there! It's also been fun to check out some talented blogs!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And for some of you who asked, let's see if I can be a little more clear on the scarf directions.
#11 34" circulars
Pick a color from your batch of yarns
Cast on 300 stitches (for a scarf that goes to your knees) OR about 150 for a regular sized scarf. Be smart....do a swatch.
This is ALL knit stitch!
Knit a row of the same color you cast on with. At the end leave about a 5" tail. Pick a second color and tie it on to the dangling piece that you just cut.
At the end of that row....repeat. Pick a new color for each row. Keep leaving 5" pieces at the end so you will have your fringe, then you can cut your fringe to the desired length when you are done.
You can do a pattern of colors if you want OR you can just do a funky mix of colors.
When you get to the width you want, knit your last row, then bind off with that same color.
When you bind off, try not to do it too tight, or you will get a "curl" in your scarf like I did! *This would be a great project for leftover yarn*
Good luck....and have a great weekend!
Eustis
CRAZY, CRAZY busy week since we got back from camp....no time to play on the computer...boo-hoo! So I woke up extra early to do a post this morning before I am off and running!
Camp was a BLAST! Good company, food, drink and CRAFTS! Bob and Joni brought their 2 black labs, and I think the dogs had a marvelous time as well. We went for boony rides, played darts, and at times just relaxed! It was 20 deg......people were ice skating on a shallow part of Flagstaff lake....couldn't believe it! But we were toasty warm as there is a big antique cook stove in the kitchen, (makes for great cooking too)!
Joni is making these unbelievable bracelets....I can't believe the detail that goes in to these little gems....
I am crossing my fingers and toes that maybe for Christmas....HINT, HINT Joni!!
I finished a scarf. (My first time on circulars) I made a few boo-boos, one being that I think I bound off too tight as the scarf wants to curl the way the circulars did, even after I blocked it. I did 300 stitches on #11's. It wraps around my neck like 3 times over, but it's warm and fuzzy, and it was good practice.
Any tips from my blogging buddies on knitting on circulars would be VERY WELCOME indeed!
Well I am off to put together my Gifty package this morning. Then I'm helping Bethie move another load of stuff into her new house. When I get home I have to finish another piece of furniture for the shop and put together a treat for my Maine Gal.
There is never enough time in a day is there???
OH....and I got my cards from Mabelle! I just couldn't believe every little bit of detail she puts into the shipping! Ribbons, and a sweet little tag and card. The cards were wrapped in a nice sleeve. If you've been thinking of ordering some of her beautiful cards, then DON't hesitate! Receiving them is such a treat!!
And Hope....have a fun weekend if I don't talk to you!
HUGS!
Good Things Friday
So I'm firing off one last post before we head to the mountains!
I'm hopping on Yvonne's Good things Friday....sorry I have no pictures, camera is packed for the weekend.
My SWEET card from Hope....it was picked out with me in my mind!  It says ANTIQUES across the top and it's this cute gal with some antiques, and the illustration on the card is adorable! THANKS HOPE!
Giao's illustration for Illustration Friday. I LOVE THIS ILLO!!!
My new friend Kerri...who invited me to her place yesterday and made me a wonderful lunch of shrimp and spinach alfredo! I brought a bottle of wine, and then we proceeded to rearrange her livingroom! (She's got the coolest apartment evah!) I dragged her to the yarn store, and she may just start up knitting! She's a great gal, and an absolute sweetie! Kerri, if you're reading this...THANKS and I'll treat you next time!
Going to camp tonight with two good friends....(my boss and his wife)....I love my part time job...I work for two very hip people! Joni is an incredible crafter, and we've got our crafts packed and ready to go! I'll try to get a couple of pictures of her newest passion....beading!
Have a great weekend! LOL
nothing really...
  Shells and driftwood from our
 Sunday hike.
I just looked at myself in the mirror....
It's 9:00 a.m. and I'm still in P.J.s. My hair is sticking up all over the place, and apparently I didn't do a good job washing my mascara off last night. I threw on Hubbies too big socks and one is inside out. If someone came to the door right now I would probably flee to the 2nd floor and peek out at them through a slit in the curtains.
I can't help it, I've been cruizing all of your sites and commenting to my little heart's delight! Here is what I found....
VIA Pinky........Ciel en papier & Tania
Loretta's sister Carol
And Just Jenn Rants for a VERY special reason.
And in my new Home Companion magazine they featured this INCREDIBLE artist...it's worth a looksy...trust me!
We are taking the 2 hour trip up to camp this weekend...I hear there is snow there all ready! I wonder if there's enough for my snow shoes? So if you all don't hear back from me by Monday, someone might want to call for help....
yarn, food & friends....
What a nice feeling to be sitting home on an early Sunday morning with no plans to do anything, other then what we decide to do. Hubby's still snoring away, and last I looked the dogs were out back sniffing the apple trees. And I'd like to add WITHOUT bright orange bandanas....as there is no hunting on Sundays. Can't wait for that to be over!
There is talk of going on a hike in my favorite town Damariscotta....there is a possibility of breakfast out, and we'll have 3 terrific breakfast joints to choose from. HEY, and maybe a little  window shopping before the hike! I think that dropping in to a shop or two would be good for my inspiration. Jon and I have decided to make this a homemade Christmas...maybe he needs some inspiration too?
Yes ALMOST a homemade Christmas anyway. We've decided we'll still buy all of the little ones something....probably more toys to ever clutter our sister's homes! Oh well, better their house than mine! (I will so pay for that statement!)
Yesterday was busy, but fun. I met my friend Elana, who is home from Alaska, for lunch at a wonderful wine and gourmet food shop called Austins in Auburn. Seeing that my little Sis Marissa, AKA "Kissa"...lives in Auburn, she met us also. Oh... I just miss Elana, and we didn't have much time to spend together as she was trying to cram everyone in before heading back today. But Marissa and I journied to the yarn shop and I bought $65.00 worth of yarn. They had a sale bin....so gals I got 13 skeins of yard for that $65.00! Marissa picked out yarn for a scarf and a pocketbook. I've got a selection of Mohairs, Bulky Lopi, Alpaca, something Italian with casmere in it etc. etc. I'm looking at all of this glorious yarn as I'm writing this....and I'm thinking of some of you Blogger pals that knit. I am fairly new to knitting, and I'd love to show you some stuff, but it's all part of the BIG handmade Christmas scheme, so we'll save those projects for after Christmas.
Myself and Elana at Austins. Isn't she just the cutest?? Me on the other hand....not photogenic WHAT SO EVER! YUCK!
One more thing before I press that POST button.....I wanted to thank Hope for giving the card I made her such great reviews!! She even posted a picture of it! I truly didn't expect it, and I'm SO freakin' happy I could make her smile! As most of you know, she's taken a lot of chances to begin a fresh start....and I have felt like we've been friends from the first day we started to comment on eachother's sites, just like she was the girl next door! You rock girl!!
If you are into ripping apart your house and putting it all back together again, you've got to check out Yvestown! UNBELIEVABLE work this girl has done! Maybe one day I'll get to sit and have a cup of tea in her fabulous diningroom! Who knows?? Anything could happen!
I am so looking forward to getting my cards in the mail from the wonderful artist Mabelle!! I ordered them especially for my niece Madeline's new bedroom, and I can't wait to start looking for frames!
And I am utterly excited for Rubber-sol's Gifty exchange! I think I know what I will send, providing this person's bio gives me a clue. How much fun is that?
Enjoy the rest of your weekend all!
River Edge Antiques
Here is a picture of my booth at River Edge Antiques in Pittston, ME.
A lot of people drive through Pittston, as it is one of the gateways to busy coastal Rt. 1. To save time & avoid traffic, folks will take the Gardiner exit off of 95, cruize across the bridge to the other side of the river, and take Rt. 27 to Wiscasset Rt.1. The shop is only a couple of miles along the river once folks cross the bridge.
It opened last January & I'm excited to see how our business will be through the holidays! I am slowly adding Thanksgiving and Christmas items, as I don't want to overwhelm.
This is where I've been selling my painted furniture and am happy to say, it doesn't last too long here.
Vintage chalkware angels & art deco lady greet customers
I like to decopauge vintage suitcases with old papers & photos
Thanks for taking a peek!
Scarborough Fair Gate leg Table
I was inspired to paint this table after reading a recent post from Where The Cloud Lingers. Two verses from the song circle around the table.
SO sorry about the crappy pictures....my batteries were getting low I think!
The little 2 drawer stand with the green handles has sold, so at the moment I have only this piece and the cottage sign in my booth at the shop. (for handmade wares that is!) I seriously need to GET painting!
I have spent 2 days rearranging my 8X10 booth. Not an easy thing when you have such a small space, but I think I'm ready for the Holiday season! I'll go in this morning and take a couple of pictures....AFTER I VOTE....and as long as I'm not running late for work.
Happy Voting all!!
