Mom and I had a great time in Georgia as we always do! There were a few new things this trip, a 2 month old named Emma, a new house for Jen, and I finally met her man Heath! Sam of course was his normal energetic self, and he is such a loving boy! Both kids are awesome, and I loved the time with them.
The weather was lovely for most of the trip, it was so nice to wear short sleeves, tank tops & capri style pants. It was a little disheartening to fly into Portland and see snow on the ground, but I really can't complain, it's actually been a nice week here so far.

AWWW...aint she purdy?

This kid's got it going on!
OK...yeah, I admit the kids are mainly the reason we go....(and Jen)...but we still manage to have fun, sight see & get some shopping in while we are there. This is the land of outlet malls after all!
Jen and I took off for Atlanta Sat. morning and went to a fun spot called Little Five Points. Need a tattoo or piercing? Shopping for some funky stuff? Looking for fine vintage clothing? Want to listen to some live tunes, or buy some out of the ordinary music? IN NEED OF A PLACE THAT SERVES A GREAT BRUNCH ALONG WITH A PITCHER OF MIMOSAS, WHILE YOU SIT OUTSIDE AND WATCH THE WORLD GO BY? This is the place!

I managed to find a few goodies at the Junkman's Daughter.

I didn't buy anything at The Clothing Ware House...but trust me, I would've liked to! BTW...this pic. was snapped while sitting at our brunch spot.
Easter Sunday we mostly lazed around in P.J.'s, reading, watching the tube and eating. Heath kept busy and cooked us a fab dinner! I also helped Jen get a blog set up called The Grandbaby Express....hopefully a new blog for all of you Mommies to check out! She has left the high stress world of retail management, and is going back to school in April. Everything seems very up in the air for her at the moment and a little topsy-turvy...but I'm proud of her, and I know she'll kick ass!
I came home to a pretty bouquet of flowers, a clean house & a cooked meal....not too shabby. I also came home to an addition with 3 green walls, and another wall going up. So now it's back to reality! I did an hour of yoga this morning, and did the 2 mile "rail trail" yesterday. I went to the grocery store and bought tons of "healthy" food. I have been doing laundry non-stop since I got home. I have a day of slinging beers tomorrow. I have to get painting furniture this weekend. I bought a new tank of propane, and actually grilled our dinner last night, and I intend on doing the same tonight. I have to check on the progress of our Journals. I'm going to a cool little flea market Saturday. I need to get working in my booth at River Edge Antiques. As I said, back to reality....
Hope you all had a great Easter weekend as well!

Sweetpeas is one today!
Today has been exactly one year from the first post I ever did! I have spent the morning looking through the past year...and what a ride it has been! I am most happy that I have made some wonderful friends!
To see how green I was to the blogging world, check out the March 2004 archives...I had no idea what I was doing! I also thanked some wonderfully talented bloggers, whom I discovered at the time, and who inspired me to create a blog. Not one of these girls ever commented on my page! hee~hee....I was not offended, truly, they are all very popular bloggers and all had loads of commenters and fans by the time I came on to the scene. It did not take me long to make my first bloggy friend, here is a paragraph from one of my posts....
"On a different note I have been linked for the first time! Thankyou Kathleen from Liquid Sky Arts for your kind words and for adding me as a "crafty person" on your beautiful site! You're my first! Hahahahaha!"
Here is a post on why I decided to call my site Sweetpeas...lots of matrimonial love going on!
This and this are 2 of my favorite posts....brings back the fondest of memories!
There's plenty of family love to go around....A picture of my babies! Nieces and nephews galore....Sam, Gabe, Emma, Beth & the kids. A wonderful day spent cruizing on the Damariscotta River with my little sister, soon after she moved home from the D.R. And special birthday wishes to my Mom.
I discoverd that I'm a bit of a show off at times. Pictures of my garden and painted furniture crop up all over the place!
An ongoing project that has had me excited and overwhelmed...(now I'm just starting to get plain' ole excited).....
"Once the furniture is sanded and primed it will all be piled up into the chicken coop. Imagine....*Jes steps out into the yard and opens the door to the old chicken coop where there is a fine selection of sanded & primed furniture for her to choose from. What strikes my fancy today? Old World Italian on that desk? Cottage Chic flowers on that headboard? Mosaic tiles on that coffee table? And carries her piece a short distance across the yard into her new work space! Work space is filled with country cupboards, a newly upholstered couch, recycled work table, etc. etc. etc.* You see? THIS is why I try not to get too excited....I get WAY ahead of myself! (though I really do have the cupboards, couch....ALL the furnishings I'll need) (being in the antique & painted furniture business I have a ready supply at my disposal!)"
Yes...I can be very exciteable at times.
Well, it's been a great year meeting all of you girls! (you know who you are). We have started Collective Souls, participated in a Gifty program, got down to the knitty gritty, planning projects and adventures and shared our love of Maine together. It has been wonderful to hear all of your stories...and I am looking forward to another year of Bloggy Bliss with you all!

Why I am happy lately:
It's officially SPRING and it's headed this way.
My Hubby!
Going to Goergia Wednesday!
I had my hair chopped off!!

The walls are going up!

I have always had a love affair with Converse Sneaks...check out my new pair!
This will probably be my last post before I leave, though I may find time to sneak in a post while I'm in Georgia. I'll be back next Tuesday!
Collective Souls...I did not send the addies out to everyone this time, seeing that a lot of us all ready have them, but if you need the addy to the next person on the list, just email me! I think that Rachel will be sending "Believe" off to Karen soon, and "Spring Fling" has made it to Marieke. Yippee!!
Have a great week and ~hugs~
Spring is coming....I can feel it! Though we have loads of snow left, and the snow banks still make it hard for us to pull safely out of our driveways, it's coming, I know it is. I actually have my front door open today and I'm seriously thinking of wrapping up in a blanket and sitting outside with a good book. (just thinking of it though...as I have too much to do before I leave for Georgia next week). BUT! There's always Georgia and my sister's deck for those kind of luxuries.
I've been painting and filling my booth with lots of white, pink & green, maybe I'm getting ready for a "Spring Fling"!

And in my Spring Fling Craze I've been cleaning with the viguor of a wild woman. Every corner, knick knack, surface and living thing in this house will not have escaped my wrath before I leave for Georgia.
Have a great week!

This is the question Leslie recently asked me in an email. Well of course she wouldn't know...being a Hawaii/SoCal chick! Here's a few pics. for all of my Sunny-Side-Up gilrfriends.

We started out on a beautiful trail through the woods. a day after a major snow storm. After going about .7 miles we popped out here.

This is the view of the Damariscotta River after coming out of the woods. Notice the big ice chunck that had drifted onto shore? The Damariscotta River is a tidal river, and the shore was filled with these.

You can just see Judy's snowshoes strapped to her feet!
Judy and I had packed a picnic lunch, including a bottle of red that we picked up at a specialty wine shop on the way. After our lunch, we headed back into the woods, following a trail along the river for a bit. Then, we preceeded to trek up hill for 2 miles. Our legs were like rubber by the time we got back to the car, but it was worth every bit of it! The workout felt wonderful!
Snowshoeing is a popular winter activity here in Maine...just a little something to keep us from becoming hermits!
------------------------------------
Collective Souls, I'll be posting pictures & info. of our new journal over the weekend, so be on the lookout!
We are having another major snow storm tomorrow, so I should have plenty of time to catch up with all of you!
~hugs~
