whirlwind weekend

It's finally happening! Our whirlwind weekend to NYC is about to happen!

I am terribly behind on reading all of your blogs, but will catch up when I get back! I did read a few today, until time got in the way....but didn't comment! I'll show you all some love when I get back! ESPECIALLY posting a picture of  Karen's  lovely bunch o goodies she sent me! Thankyou Karen....I love it all!

I will tell you all why I am going to meet up with this special bunch of girls!

When I first started this blog...Kathleen, Leslie, Hope, Yvonne, & Giao were the girls, that right from the get go chose to comment on my blog. They encouraged & nurtured my creativity. They sent me lovely snail mail & gifts. We talked on the phone. We shared secrets. And most importantly, we were all doing this with eachother as a group. It was nothing personal that we did not include others. I have LOTS of great blogging girlfriends that I have made, but kind of seperately from the other gals, as they too have other friends that I do not know. We all had eachother's friendship in common. Plain and simple.  A couple of others that were invited could not make it...they know who they are, and they will be in our thoughts! We'll have a drink to you two!

I am also going to get to hang with Dawn my first day there! I'll have her all to myself, then she'll meet up with us again on Saturday. She has been a blogging buddy from (almost) the beginning as well. There are so many others we'd like to meet up with, but we are so afraid of our time constraints. By the time the others fly in and fly out, there will only really be 2 full days. Clearly, we need to go for much longer then we are. Maybe next time friends!

Soooo....we are off on our little adventure! This all VERY exciting I might add. Hope is bringing her laptop, and I am hoping I will be able to sneak in a post! We all may be fighting for that little laptop!

WARNING: extra long post....

Yes...this will be a mega post with lots of links & stuff....so if you're in a hurry....this isn't the place.

I wont bore you with every little darn detail of why I haven't been able to play in Bloggy Land lately. I WILL tell you that I had an emergency wisdom tooth pulled this week...and before the big pull, the pain was so bad I felt like I was constantly on the verge of losing my cookies. If I could've eaten cookies that is. Anyhoo...I'm back and I've got lots to report!

WELL THEN! I guess this wasn't too long...tried to keep it short and sweet! Jon and I have set aside this whole weekend for fall cleaning! That's right....we've got mops, rags, cleaning supplies and more piled in the kitchen and we are ready for combat. The dogs are looking miserable, and if they're not careful they'll be next.

OH....and P.S.....HI RACHEL AND PEP....a little birdie told me you read this journal! WELCOME!

*SIGH*

I've been finding it hard to write about all of the wonderful things that happen in my life! I try to keep this journal upbeat and positive. I try to write about things that are all crafting, cooking, gardening & fun.

Since the HORRIBLE tragedy in New Orleans, I find that my mind can't seem to wrap around the things that are good, happy and true for me. I go through the motions, I say the right things....but it all feels sort of warped. You know?

As we watch the news....I keep proclaiming to Jon, "BUT THIS IS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA for *&%#@ sakes!" I NEVER like to talk politics on this site, nor where I bartend & lots of times with Jon. We are of 2 different parties in this household, but I know he is as dissapointed as I. (I love you hon). I'll leave it there.

This weekend, I think I'll do a little Christmas shopping at Revolution's Etsy Shop.....(the proceeds going to New Orleans). Even this, in a sense makes me feel a bit guilty! Here I am CHRISTMAS shopping, when some of these folks wont even be able to have a Christmas! Here I am doing something HAPPY, HAPPY....blah....blah....blah. Hopefully by the time Christmas rolls around, I'll know what I purchased was a good thing. I wish I could do as good of a good thing as Leslie's brother is doing....go check it out. I don't know him, but he is WONDERFUL none the less! So isn't anyone else who got (or is getting) their butts down there!

You are the TRUE heroes of our country!

You all don't have to comment....I'll post something a little more upbeat over the weekend, I promise!

harvest....

Yesterday we decided to stay home and putter. I love to putter in my garden, and I decided it was time to harvest some herbs. The clothesline makes a perfect place to hang them for a few days, as long as you know the weather will be breezy and dry.

I have some VERY EXCITING NEWS! We have been dying to spill, but decided to wait until we got our plans all set! I am going to meet up with some of my bloggy gal pals in MANHATTEN! WOO~HOO!! The gang will be Myself, Giao, Hope, Yvonne, Kathleen & Leslie. We will also get to meet Dawn while we are there. We are all just so excited that we could pull this off! Can anyone say SHOPPING?? I can!

I got some lovely treats in the mail this week. I recieved my crafty goodies from Maria and I'll be sure to show you a before and after picture when I create something from them! When I opened the package I instantly knew what I'd be making!

I also got this cute handmade paperbag journal from Amanda! It's so darn cute with lots of pockets, stamped papers & inspirational quotes. THANKS AMANDA!!

OK....I better run....I hear Jon moving about upstairs and we are going salmon fishing this early morning. I am in the proccess of making chicken-bacon wraps for our lunch, and my serious Captain would have none of this goofing off on the computer business!
